From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.
The Ophthalmic Medical Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations.Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) (Goldmann required)Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLATesting elements of movement (eye muscle function)Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement)Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testingParticipating in light cleaning of the facilityMaintaining a sanitized environmentPerforming corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonographyAssisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts.Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patientsAssisting with Lasers or minor procedures

Working Conditions and Environmental/Physical Demands
Full body rotation (i.e., bending, stooping, twisting, etc.)Ability to lift at least 20lbs.Communicating with others to exchange information.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.No adverse environmental conditions expected.

QualificationsMinimal of one year in OphthalmologyPreferred:CertificationCertification through JCAHPOAssociates Degree - preferred
Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform manifest refraction is requiredAbility to perform Goldmann tonometry is required.Ability to effectively multitaskAttentive to detail and accuracy.
